Who is Andrea Lucchesini?

Andrea Lucchesini is an Italian pianist. He trained with the great Italian piano master Maria Tipo, and gained international recognition at a young age when he won the "Dino Ciani" International Competition in Milan. Since then, he has performed all over the world with leading orchestras and as a chamber musician and recitalist. He performs a wide variety of repertoire, from classical to modern, and wants to explore music with no limitations. Andrea is very passionate about music education, and currently teaches at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. He is also frequently invited to teach masterclasses at major music institutions, and serves on juries for piano competitions all over the world. After a gap of way too many years, Andrea returned to the VRS in 2018 and played such a wonderful concert that we immediately re-engaged him. Unfortunately, his 2021 concert was another casualty of the pandemic, but we are so pleased to welcome him back for this performance of Fantasies.

What is he playing?

BEETHOVEN: Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 27,  No. 2  “Moonlight”
SCHUMANN: Fantasie in C major, Op. 17
LISZT: Piano Sonata in B minor, S.178
