Who is Jean Rondeau?

Jean Rondeau is one of the world’s leading harpsichordists and a global ambassador for his instrument. He studied harpsichord at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, and also trained in continuo, organ, piano, jazz, improvisation and conducting. In 2012, at the age of 21, he became one of the youngest performers ever to take First Prize at the International Harpsichord Competition in Bruges. He is committed to environmental sustainability, and even organized a ‘green itinerary’ for a recent European tour. Jean Rondeau is also very interested in new music and even composed an original score for the film Paula, which premiered at the 2016 Locarno Film Festival. Jean Rondeau made a huge impression on the VRS audience in 2018, and we’re very much looking forward to his return to Vancouver this fall.

What is he playing?
